J.D. Vance vs. Kamala Harris On Family Issues

The Republican Party just had its national convention where delegates from each state chose to put their votes in for President Donald Trump to be their official nominee. At the convention, President Trump announced who he would be taking with him to the November general election as his vice president. President Trump selected 39-year-old Ohio Senator J.D. Vance. This pick was highly anticipated and was an extremely smart selection. President Trump wanted to make sure he took someone younger given both he and Biden are very much on the older side. So who is Senator J.D. Vance?

Who is J.D. Vance?

J.D. Vance had a rough childhood in Ohio and due to his supposed drug problems with his parents, he was raised by his grandparents. Upon graduating high school, he decided that he wanted to serve the country so he enlisted in the Marines in 2003. In 2005 he was deployed to Iraq and joined the Public Affairs team where he seemingly found his purpose in life. After leaving the Marines Vance went on to Ohio State University where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree. From Ohio State Vance went on to Yale Law School. While at Yale Law School he wrote Hillbilly Elegy which turned into a major success and even had a Netflix movie made out of it. After he finished school Vance worked multiple jobs before deciding to run for office. Vance, with no prior government experience, won his election for a Senate seat in 2022. Since then he has worked in the Senate fighting for families. President Trump then picked Vance as his running mate so how does he stack up to current Vice President Kamala Harris?

Abortion

Senator Vance is very much pro-life but there are some stances we don’t entirely agree with him on. Vance stated that he might support a national ban but prefers it to be a state issue. There are some exceptions he believes in like protecting the life of the mother but said he is against abortion in the cases of rape and incest. While Vance isn’t perfect on the issue he is exceptional compared to Vice President Harris. Kamala is a firm believer in abortion and fights for it everywhere she goes. One of the main points she and Biden are running on is restoring Roe which was overturned not long ago. Harris believes that there should be little to no restrictions on when a baby can be killed.

The Nuclear Family

Senator J.D. Vance is very much an advocate for the nuclear family and believes that marriage should be between one man and one woman. Vance, in a speech a few years back, stated that a lot of America’s downfalls are the fault of the childless left. Vance is very much an advocate for women to have children and claims that it is one of the most fulfilling things a woman can experience. Vice President Kamala Harris is a huge advocate for the LGBTQ community and people sleeping with whomever they want. Harris has shown up and spoken at multiple gay pride events and used them as a campaign platform.

“Gender-Affirming Care”

The issue of “gender-affirming care” is one of Senator J.D. Vance's strongest issues. Vance proposed a bill that would make it a federal felony to perform child sex change surgeries and would block any taxpayer funds from being able to be used for it. Vance stated, “Under no circumstances should doctors be allowed to perform these gruesome, irreversible operations on underage children.” Vice President Kamala Harris is pro-child transitioning. She has essentially agreed with all positions taken by the LGBTQ movement. This act is cruel and has no place in America.

The difference between the two potential Vice Presidents is very clear. The current administration has put its focus on pleasing the woke agenda at the expense of normal working-class American families. Senator J.D. Vance has been a fighter for the family unit since he stepped into office. Vance’s childhood being rough and having to deal with issues that normal people have to deal with gives him a better perspective on what the family unit is in need of.
